NewsMuse bring Benicasim 2007 to epic closeMuse led Benicassim 2007 to a thundering close tonight (July 22). Britain's biggest live act stole the show as they returned to the Spanish festival for a second time. Following powerful main stage sets from Kings of Leon and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, the band ploughed through their greatest hits. And a spectacular visual show climaxed with giant balloons filled with tickertape released into the crowd during 'Plug In Baby', echoing their recent shows at Wembley Stadium. Enthusing about the festival, Matt Bellamy was told NME.COM: "Benicassim's brilliant, it's got a really weird line-up, a lot of bands who you think have disappeared or split up or something. And the backstage area is one of the best party areas anywhere. The promoter hands out all these free passes to women, as I'm sure you're aware!" Muse turned up onsite yesterday to support the UK's other big festival hit of the summer: "I saw the Arctic Monkeys last night," said Matt. "I spent the rest of the time propping up the bar, but I thought they were really good. They played really well. They've got a big gig in the UK next week (at Lancashire County Cricket Club), so it's great to see them when they're right at their peak." Brooklyn Hip-Hop Fest Nabs Ghostface Ghostface has been announced as the headliner for the third annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop festival, taking place June 7 and 14 at the PowerHouse arena in Dumbo, and 21-23 at the Empire Fulton Ferry Sate Park. The legendary MC, who cut his teeth as part of the Wu-Tang Clan, will close out the last day of the event along with artists Skillz, Consequence and Tanya Morgan. "Ghost is an excellent addition but we are not done yet," said Festival Director Alma Geddy-Romero in a press release. "In the next few weeks we will be announcing some legendary names from the past as well as some outstanding new artists. Last year we introduced Lupe Fiasco to Brooklyn and brought Big Daddy Kane home. Look for more of the same this year." This year's festival is being produced by the Brooklyn Bodega, the Room Service Group and Seven Heads Entertainment.
